Why does 100 days have no rule behind it?
Most popular day counts on this site come from a law or an agency: 60 days for an IRA rollover, 90 days for Schengen, 120 days for a foreclosure referral. 100 does not. People reach for it because it is a round number. Goals, challenges and milestones get set in hundreds. So this page is about counting, not about a rule.
How do 100 calendar days compare with 100 school days?
They are far apart. 100 calendar days is a little over 14 weeks. 100 school days skips every Saturday and Sunday, so even without holidays it takes 20 full weeks, which is 140 calendar days. Add federal holidays, winter break and spring break, and the 100th school day lands months after day 100 on the calendar.

What is the trick with 100 days and weekdays?
Because 100 equals 14 weeks plus 2 days, day 100 always lands two days later in the week than the day you start. Start on a Thursday and day 100 is a Saturday. That is a quick check on any 100-day deadline: if the weekday does not match, someone counted differently, often by treating the start day as day 1.
