About DayReckon

DayReckon is a small website that counts days. You ask how long until Thanksgiving, or what date falls 90 days from now, and the answer is the first thing on the page: a number, a date and its weekday.

Who runs it?

The DayReckon team, a small independent group that builds calendar and countdown tools. We do not put names or photos of "experts" on the pages, because none of the answers depend on a person's authority. They depend on two things you can check yourself: an official source for each date, and arithmetic we explain on the methodology page.

Why does it exist?

Search for a holiday countdown and you often get a number with no date, no weekday, or a date that was right last year. We wanted a page that shows its work. Every holiday date here traces to the body that sets it. Federal holidays come from the Office of Personnel Management, seasons from the US Naval Observatory, and school dates from each district's own calendar. Where a date is a forecast, such as the start of Ramadan, the page says "expected" in plain view.

What can you rely on, and what not?

The day counts are exact arithmetic, and the calculators are tested against fixed cases before each build. The dates are only as good as their sources, so each page lists them and shows when we last checked. We do not give legal, tax or immigration advice. When a page mentions a rule, such as a rental notice period, it is there to help you count, and the disclaimer explains the limits.

How is the site paid for?

There are no ads and no tracking cookies. The site links to Countdown Day, an iPhone and iPad app made by the same team, for people who want a countdown on their Home Screen. A printable countdown calendar may be offered later; if it is, it will be clearly marked and the free tools will stay free.
