Calculated by DayReckon with the NOAA solar equations. This measures sunrise to sunset only. The fast is set by local prayer times, which your mosque or community timetable gives.

Why is this date marked "expected"?

Ramadan begins with a new month in the Islamic lunar calendar, and many communities start it only when the new crescent moon is seen. Published calendars give a calculated date in advance. The date on this page, Mon, Feb 8, 2027, comes from the Fiqh Council of North America, and a second published table gives the same day. The counter is still a forecast. If the start moves, this page changes the same day it is announced.

There is a physical anchor. The US Naval Observatory puts the astronomical new moon at 15:56 UTC on Sat, Feb 6, 2027, two days before the expected start, which fits the expected date.

How long are the days in February 2027?

Ramadan 2027 falls in winter, so daylight is short across the United States. Our calculation for Mon, Feb 8, 2027 gives about 9 hours 56 minutes from sunrise to sunset in Seattle, the shortest of the 12 cities. Miami is longest, at about 11 hours 8 minutes. New York is near 10 hours 23 minutes and Houston near 10 hours 58 minutes. The fast itself follows prayer times, so these figures compare cities; they are not a schedule.

Why stop at 2028?

For 2029 and 2030 we found only one source, and for Eid al-Fitr 2030 the two sources disagree by a day. We leave those years out instead of guessing. When a second source agrees, the year is added to the table.
